Liverpool have signed a new kit sponsorship deal with Boston based Warrior Sports that will see the US based kit maker replace Adidas as the maker of the club’s strips from the 2012/2013 season. The new Warrior Sports Liverpool kit sponsorship deal is reportedly worth £25m a year, apparently twice what Adidas were paying the Reds.
Warrior Sports are actually based in Warren, Michigan, but they are a subsidiary of New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc, who are based in Boston, and who supply kits to the Boston Red Sox ( Red Sox are owned by Fenway Sports Group who also own Liverpool).
Warrior Sports are better known for making Lacrosse kits than football ones, and this deal with Liverpool will represent its first major foray into soccer. This Liverpool Warrior Sports deal is the biggest in English football and is a record for a Premier League club. The previous kit deal was with Nike, which reportedly pays Man United £23.5m a year.
